Bracken Christian will need a win this week over Kerrville OLH as the season comes down to two games.

The BCS district is the largest in the State of Texas and getting more than two teams will certainly be a reality and the Warriors will need another win for their district race but also in getting their overall record in good shape for the selection committee.

“We could determine our destiny by winning straight out but that is not as easy as it sounds,” Head Coach Hosea Stredic said. “We will have two good teams to play.”

Below is the recap of last week’s drencher game with Concordia and Go Warrirors.

Bracken Christian opened up their offense with passing this week in their game with Concordia as the Warriors won on a very wet night, 69-22.

Right off the bat, a Cardinal took off in flight with a 46 yard kick off return giving the Warriors a rude awakening and needing two scores for a lead.

Well, that first score was realized when the forward pass was seen as a good eye opener for Concordia as QB Brady Beene found Presley Day for a 45 yard pass and run and after a Carlos Navarro kick the game was tied once again within one minute of that opening kick-off.

Beene would end up having his best day in the passing department when he finished the night with 168 yards through the air.

“I thought we’d throw a little early to get Concordia a little winded before we pound them with Presley (Day) and Daniel (Forgione),” Coach Stredic stressed. “Then we could keep them off balance with a little play action.”

Day would score by the run his next time to touch the ball with a 44 yard touchdown after the Warrior defense closed the door on that next Cardinal drive.

Concordia was not finished in the first quarter when they almost matched Day’s run with a 41 yard jaunt to close the BCS gap, 16-14.

Bracken Christian would score on their first 7 times the offense took the field.

But two other Warrior scores happened with a kick-off and interception return as this would be the second game this season, Bracken would end a game early by the mercy rule.

That kick off return was off an on-side kick when Daniel Forgione would take the bounce and go right through the Cardinal line and into daylight for the score, 28-14.

Using the word daylight would be a misnomer on this night as the Heavens would open up during the second half with a deluge of water which would help in dousing the flight of Concordia’s Cardinals.

Day would end the night with 5 touchdowns while Beene would tie his own Warrior record after recording 5 TD passes in this wet shower.

Bracken finished this game with 6 touchdowns by the thrown ball when Lucas McCrum would return a pass thrown by a water logged Cardinal for 32 yards and a 41 point lead going into the 4th quarter.

That last quarter would have one play and then game when Forgione ran untouched for 20 yards in getting enough points and giving two teams and many fans a chance to go dry off.

Bracken will be on the road this week as they will travel to Kerrville to face an old nemesis, OLH. A win will go a long way in solidifying a chance for more games in two weeks.

Go Warriors!!
