Bracken is Knocked Brack in Loss to Castle Hills, 46-41

Bracken Christian took the Castle Hills Eagles to the brink but still left the game on the short end of the score, 46-41.

The Warriors were in the game as they had chances of sending Castle Hills into the loss column as time just ran out on the scrappy Bracken team.

“We played a good game but we had too many missed opportunities,” Head Coach Hosea Stredic recounted. “We are trying to teach the players to think and play football but we have to trust one another and take care of responsibilities.”

BCS started the game with a 6 play 49 yard drive for the first score when Presley Day crossed the goal line for his first of three touchdowns on the night.

CH would follow suit with a drive and score that still left the Eagles one point from a tie as the game was getting started.

Day would be the main cog in the arsenal on Bracken’s next score rushing for 31 of the 41 yards needed to score.

Carlos Navarro was good this time on his pat and Bracken was enjoying a 15-12 lead and serving notice this game would not be a push over.

A 43 yard pass play would give Castle Hills the lead with over 4 minutes before the concession stand would be busy and that score would be the final until the Eagles would start the second half with another touchdown on a 17 yard pass play.

Down by 11 points (26-15), Bracken would take advantage of a short kickoff and return to the Eagle’s 27 yard line.

Two plays later the Warriors would be back within 3 points (26-23) after Day ran to light with another score.

After a good defensive stand, the Warriors would get the lead back when Day would once again have a bruising 45 yard run and a BCS lead as the 4th quarter was getting ready to commence.

But it did not take long for the Eagles to take the lead back after a 75 yard kick-off return and a, 32-29 lead going into that final stanza.

Castle Hills would then hold, after the Warriors marched down to the 25 yard line missing a first down by 1 yard.

The Eagles would soar again with another long play by the pass and this time the play was for 61 yards and a 9 point lead, 38-29 with right at 7 minutes remaining.

BCS would take a 5 play drive to the cleaners when Cristian DeLeon ran a reverse for 7 yards and still enough time to get a lead over this Eagle squad, 38-35.

On Castle Hills next time with the ball, DeLeon would make a great play when he rushed the QB and snatched the pass less than 3 feet from his hands and taking the interception 21 yards to a Warrior lead, 41-38 with right at 4 minutes remaining.

The Eagles would milk the clock for 2:34 and a score from 8 yards out to take the lead and game from Bracken.

The Warriors had one more chance to wrestle the lead back but an inspired Eagle defense would close the door and game on Bracken.

This was a game that will certainly get Bracken ready for their next 3 games as they will need to string some victories and get some momentum as the last third of the campaign gets serious.

“We will not dwell on the game,” Coach Stredic closed. “I have confidence we will pick it up and on this night the players will leave this game on the field and we will start working on the basics.”

Concordia will be next on the docket as Bracken will meet up with the Pflugerville school at 7:30pm this Friday.

Go Warriors!!
