Bracken Takes Care of Business in Win over OLH, 54-0

Head Coach Hosea Stredic adresses Warriors 3 months ago as BCS enters last regular season game

Head Coach Hosea Stredic adresses Warriors 3 months ago as BCS enters last regular season game this week.

Bracken Christian wins big over rival Kerrville OLH, 54-0 on the road last Friday night.

“We came out and took care of business,” Head Coach Hosea Stredic commented. “We played a full game and played the way we should have played.”

“In a game like this, it was important to get all the players on the field,” Coach Stredic stressed.

The Warriors were on their game after scoring 40 points in that first quarter which had not been done since Eli Achilles was calling plays for Bracken.

In that game, Bracken scored 52 points in a game with Brenham Academy in their 60-12 victory in 2012.

With kicker, Carlos Navarro, those points added up as Navarro was perfect in that first quarter accounting for 10 points in those 5 touchdowns.

“In the OLH game last year, we had more touchdowns than OLH but lost the game because we missed too many kicks,” Placekicker holder Brady Beene said astutely. “In this game (Carlos) Navarro was extremely important for us.”

Bracken would have their offense taking just15 snaps for this game while averaging 14 yards of real estate for each touch.

Freshman Presley Day started this night with a 55 yard dash and a score with just over 10 seconds gone in the game.

Of those 15 snaps, BCS would score on 7 giving the casual fan a taste of what it would feel like being dominated by an opponent.

Likewise, the Warrior defense was just as convincing as this group would give up just 3 total yards of offense as the Hawks had a chance to gain yardage with 25 plays.

To put this succinctly, Kerrville would need to have 125 plays to have enough yardage to move the chains after a first down.

In the real game, however, Bracken held their rival to just one first down, which was accomplished on the Hawks last drive of this contest.

One completion for an OLH receiver and another completion for Daniel Forgione with an interception that gave that catch a mute point as the Hawks garnered 3 yards on their catch while Forgione ran his interception back 28 yards.

Bracken had just 2 third down plays, as the Warriors were inflicting pain on quick strikes for most of this night.

Three different Warrior quarterbacks completed a touchdown pass as this game, giving opportunities for several players.

QB Guy Bishop has thrown 4 passes and had 3 of those throws result in a touchdown during this year’s of games.

Lucas McCrum had his first touchdown pass while Brady Beene threw his 25th for his career and now just trails Noah Boriack and Eli Achilles on that all time list.

That scenario had happened earlier this year but those backup players were not sure what assignment they would have.

On this night, those same backup players had sure steps on the field as there would be no drop off on the play of this game.

“Yeah, they are paying more attention,” Coach Stredic said. “The players while they waited on the sideline, they knew if they weren’t sharp then they would not be able to stay on the field.”

That was an impressive sight as this game was decided early in this game, those little things will add up to be much bigger contributions, since you don’t know when your coach will turn and say go in there.

“I like where we are and we just have to take care of us because we can’t worry about them,” QB Beene said in responding to next week’s opponent. “The biggest thing we need to realize is that we can play with them and I like where we are right now.”

That same mantra was also heard from Freshman Running back Day, “If we do everything our coaches tell us to do then we can beat them…we will be going into this game with this being more about us and how we perform than about us going into the game beating them (Cedar Park).”

Bracken will now be preparing for this last regular season game this coming Friday at Cedar Park Summit, and after hearing from these players, then this should be a good game.

This game will go far in showing the improvement as this season reaches show time.

As Day said in conclusion, “We are ready to go!”

Go Warriors!!
