Canyon Lake’s Cross Country team will be active Monday as they will hopefully run into Hawk history as they compete in District 26-4A Meet and will try to out do last year’s Hawk runners.

In the most recent meet in Navarro, CL had two that placed in the warm up meet before the district run.

Jaren Marmolejo placed 11th for the Varsity boys and Matt Bell was just 2 places off with a 13th finish.

Another Hawk, Adam Wiewell was within smelling distance coming in 15th place overall, giving CL a good score and helped with a good placement among the attending schools.

“It was a really awesome day,” Head Cross Country Coach Mary Beth Gallagher said. “Our boys varsity took 3rd overall.”

Canyon Lake had some other athletes finishing with some of their best finishes to date.

The Cross Country team goes to meets with teams that are much larger and so many times trying to place with 5A and 6A schools is a tall order.

Canyon Lake also did well with their JV teams as Hannah Williams finished with a lofty 4th place finish while Jullian DeLapaz had a 15th place finish for the boys JV squad.

Mountain Valley Middle School brought home some medals with a strong showing.

The 8th Grade Boys took first place in the MS Division with 4 boys medaling while the 8th Grade Girls finished in 2nd Place for a good one-two punch for Mountain Valley.

“This was across the board, our best meet this season,” Coach Gallagher glowed. “It was important because it was at the District Meet site for October 19th and all but one of our district opponents were there.”

Coach Gallagher continued, “It is promising for our Varsity boys snd they know with hard work, they can put themselves in an excellent position to finish in the top three and earn a regional birth.”

Another Hawk Sport that continues to rise and soar as many underclassman will continue to excel for Canyon Lake as the future looks bright for this Cross Country group of students.

Congrats and Good Luck this Monday at Starke Park in Sequin.

Go Hawks!!
