 ==================================================

Canyon Lake and Taylor Ducks will be battling for sole position as the 2nd place team in District 14-4A-I.

Both schools have a 2-1 record with just two remaining games after the contest on Friday.

The Hawks are on a two game winning streak after their opening district loss to Liberty Hill and will want to continue with that momentum.

What we know about the Ducks is that they have an offense that is number 1 in the district while their defense comes in last.

CL had a game like that this year when they played in Marion. That was a game where Canyon Lake’s offense was humming but the defense could not get a stop and ended up losing the game, 55-50.

So, in a nutshell, the Hawks will need to ratchet up the defense in get stops in order to take control of this game.

Good news? The Ducks rushing defense has allowed 285 yards per game and if CL can have some sustaining drives then that would reduce the number of stops for the defense.

There will be Ducks flying all over the field on offense as Jarrell Crittendon has an incredible 12 yards per carry and has accumulated 905 yards on the ground.

Another Duck runner that will be dangerous is Delane Hornsby who has a respectable 9 yards per tote.

Quarterback Terrell Reynolds leads the district with 1643 passing yards  as he has thrown for 18 touchdowns with just 4 interceptions.

There will be 4 more Ducks flying around for receptions as Caleb Cooper leads the team and district with 41 catches for 324 yards. As this receiver will be one of Taylor’s, move the chains, player.

All the other Ducks have a 10 yards or longer average per catch. Malik Jackson, 32 catches for 739 yards, Xavier Washington, 32 catches for 321 yards, and Austin Garcia has 24 receptions with 289 yards of real estate.

Canyon Lake will have their hands full this Friday against a Duck team that likes to fly.

The question is how many Ducks can the Hawks run into the ground. Turnovers and controlling the clock will let you know who the winner could be on Friday at the Hawk Stadium.

Go Hawks!!
