Last week was a good and bad week for Hawk sports as the Hawk Volleyball team had an off date on Tuesday and then all the teams won their games with Yoakum by sweeps on Friday.

Freshman got back on the winning track by sweeping the Freshman Bulldogs, 25-9 and 25-17.

CLJV also kept their District title hopes alive winning both game with Yoakum, 25-20 and 26-24.

Then the District 26-4A and 8the ranked Hawks took care of business, sweeping the Bulldogs, 25-15, 25-12, and 25-8.

Senior Addison Farley led the team with 14 kills while Junior Regan Mickey was tops in assists and digs with 18 and 12.

Emma Gray had her best game at the net this year with 5 blocks while Sophomore Faith Hasness had 4 aces as she was last seen headed for Las Vegas.

This week the Hawks will have a very winnable game Tuesday when they go on the road to Gonzales and then Friday will be another huge game as a win over Navarro would put Canyon Lake right at the door for a District 26-4A title.

The Hawks would have to lose 3 games to be relegated to second place with a win, since they would enjoy the tie breaker rule after winning two games over the Panthers.

If you cannot get to Bandera for Friday’s football game, then come to the Hawk Nest for the 6pm match for all the marbles. (the Volleyball Standings article goes into more detail of how this game would have the teams with the playoffs looming)

Canyon Lake’s Cross Country boys team has another chance of getting a 3rd place or better finish but that district meet will be a week from this coming Monday and so they will not be running competitively this Saturday.

The Hawks had a good Sub-Varisty night last Thursday as the JV went to Liberty Hill and won, 12-8 and then the Hawk Freshman remained undefeated for this year after scoring with 30 second left on the clock and beat a good LH Panther team.

CL Freshman are presently on a 12 game winning streak but will have this week off since they played during the Varsity off week in Austin.

CL’s Gold team will travel to Liberty Hill for their extra contest and a chance to continue their impressive season.

The Hawk Varsity will have a chance to equal their record when they go on the road to face Bandera on Friday.

Canyon Lake has a 5-0 record with Bandera and getting that record to 6-0 would be pivotable in keeping their hopes for another chance of making the playoffs this season.

A young team, but with each week those young players continue to get better and now will be a chance to start a streak for the ages. (no matter what the ages you are)

Bracken Christian will also have an important game traveling to San Antonio to take on Castle Hills and get a foothold in making some noise in their district.

Go Hawks and Warriors and The ReSporter will be waiting to gloat on your wins.
