Hawks Play at Navarro this Tuesday
Canyon Lake will be traveling to Navarro this Tuesday as the district schedule is getting started during the first round of games.
The Hawk Ladies will have a tough game as they lost their first district game last Saturday against Gonzales.
The Lady Panthers are undefeated in district so far sporting a 3-0 record with a 16-7 season.
This will be a tough game to turn the table for Canyon Lake as they have been suffering on the offensive side of the court in points as that has become a precious commodity during the past few games.
CL had several players that were not available for their tournament and last week’s game with Gonzales.
That alone should make Canyon Lake more competitive for Tuesday’s contest.
In that loss to Gonzales, Canyon Lake, did not have a field goal in the second half as they scored all their points from the foul line.
Still early in the race and enough games to right the ship even with a loss on Tuesday.
For the Hawk Boys, their win over Gonzales matched the same start during last season as CL beat this same school.
The difference in this comparison is seeing how Canyon Lake dismantled the Apaches and scoring points and winning by such a lopsided score.
This Navarro team is presently on a 14 game winning streak and they won their first game over La Vernia by 17 points on the road.
Last year, Canyon Lake lost their first game with Navarro on a last second shot and could make a contest and a chance for a win.
CL will have to play a game similar to last Saturday’s game and that would be the all important question.
Consistency is something that has not endowed this team yet as can be witnessed by just seeing what happened last week.
A poor set of games during the Freddie Tournament where several of the players were missing in action throughout.
That same team was not evident in the win over Gonzales as two of the players to score the most points in that tournament only combined for 5 points.
While the calvary showed up with guns blazing to put a good game on from start to finish against the Apaches.
Another good note was seeing how both JV and Freshman played in their games as both of these teams finished with convincing wins.
Go Hawks and come see some good basketball as CL will play Tuesday at Navarro and then welcome Cuero for games at the Hawk Nest on Friday.
