Lady Hawks Soccer Take Down the Bears, 2-0
Canyon Lake Girls Soccer won their last non-district game over La Vernia, 2-0 at the Hawk Nest on Tuesday night.
A good win as the last few games have had this team finding it hard to get a win as last Saturday, a loss to Liberty Hill and then a string of games that ended in tied scores.
“We played hard and tough,” Head Coach Ryan Tierney said. “I have been extremely proud of our defense lately as they stayed on marks and lock down offensive players and it makes it hard to get shots on goal.”
The Hawks made up for a 1 all tie in their last tilt against the Bears almost a month ago.
CL now will start their tough district slate this Friday on the road at Boerne.
Canyon Lake will sport a 6-3-3 record as this compares to their 5-1 record last season.
Now the Hawks will see if playing 6 more games before starting district will translate into successes these next few weeks of district play.
This will be a tough set of games as their will not be any off dates as the first week of competition will attest to, as both District 28-4A games ended in tied soccer matches.
“Going forward we will have to focus on getting healthy and being more prepared defensively,” Coach Tierney closed.
Looking at the scores below you will certainly see how playing a better defense will help propel this team as district play continues.
Go Hawks!!
