Well, it starts!! Yes, it is now that time of year where almost each day is set with some type of sports.
Could be played anywhere and at almost anytime. This is a great time to see how many games or events you can become a Hawk know it all.
This week, Canyon Lake will have the Girls Basketball team having an opportunity to play after the regular season has ended.
That is the good news, the bad news might be how a 4th seed might be able to compete with the #6 team in the State of Texas for a first round match-up.
But that is why they play the game and just having this chance is what each team dreams of and gives them a mere taste and in wanting more as the next saga starts back up in the Fall.
CL Hawks have persevered this season with some great games as they dealt with injuries and still had the opportunity to play again.
Alexa Ramos finished this year on a run as this energizer battery has the ability to play non-stop.
In fact, the only thing that can stop Ramos would be a foul call as someone who plays all out will many times end the game with her 5th foul.
Emma Gray has been a welcome site for the Hawk campus as this young transfer student played an enormous roll in helping CL’s Volleyball team win a District Title and now having a chance to bring the Basketball team back to the Playoff stage.
Sarah Schneider and Sarah Russell also played key rolls in realizing this dream with Mia Riali and a slew of other young players playing their way up to making another game a reality.
Seeing Caitlin Mabry improve on her game this season has also been a pleasant surprise.
Congrats on a great season and now play hard and persevere this coming Tuesday.
The Boy’s Basketball team will be favored this Tuesday on their last regular season game as a win will even their District 26-4A record at 6-6.
Those six wins would be 3 more wins than CL has ever amassed for district affairs.
With a win this Tuesday, the Hawks would match their total wins accumulated adding the last two seasons together.
Some great senior leadership combined with depth and younger players has made this an admirable year of games and The ReSporter would also like to say Congrats!! Canyon Lake Boys Basketball.
Baseball will continue their scrimmage schedule this week as they start putting all of those variables that go with fielding a team to compete in one of the toughest districts in 4A play.
Track and Field will be taking on the spotlight this next Saturday as this should be a loaded Boys and Girls team this year as both of those teams finished last year on an upward note.
What is always interesting in this sport is the amount of Seniors that just mail it in for this time of year, but The ReSporter is hoping that this class will finish the race (pardon the pun) and help make this a memorable season on the cinders.
There are several athletes that left a mark last year and seeing how this group of student’s might have improved on those times and distances can only give you a good chance of watching some good competition for this Track season.
Boys and Girls Soccer will start district play this week when the Girls will head to Boerne while Boerne Boys team will start their season at the Hawk Nest.
This should be another good chance to see if these two teams will also be able to continue their roll as they finish up non-district season.
Tis the season that will have non-stop action and The ReSporter will hope to have those stories for the Hawk Nation.
Now take a deep breath and Go Hawks!!
