Hawks Finish Middle of Pack after First Day of District Golf
Canyon Lake Golf team are in the middle of the pack going into their final round next Monday in Floresville Golf Course.
A lot of youth that can make a statement next year as after the first day of competition, Canyon Lake would need some great scores on their second round while other schools falling apart.
“We played well and are getting a lot better,” Head Coach Lucas Chapman surmised. “Both of our groups have great shots at advancing next year.”
This was not going to be a banner year in golf and seeing how this group of students finished gave an indication of what the next few years might be in store for the Hawks.
Sarah Russell was low score for CL when she finished her first day with a 98 while followed closely by Sam York.
On the Boys side, Bailey Welty was low score with a respectable 85 day and Chance Martelli followed with a 87 and Freshman Cade Dunavant finishing just one stroke off of Martelli’s score.
There 359 score is just one stroke away from Gonzales who resides in 3rd place in the two day event.
Golf can be a cruel game sometimes and with that being the case, CL could have a shot at La Vernia with a good day and those Bears forgetting how to hold their woods with those claws.
Next Monday will conclude this season’s golf season.
