A decent week for Canyon Lake as the Girls Soccer team beat Taylor to advance to the next round where they will be facing a district foe in Boerne Greyhounds.
The Hawks lost both district games with Boerne but had a vast improvement from the first to second game this year.
CL’s Boys Soccer fought valiantly in their loss to Giddings on Friday as they had their first taste of a playoff game and had an opponent that was glad to go home with a win after a 4-2 conquest over the Hawks.
Only two Seniors on the Soccer team so this team can hopefully continue to improve and represent the Hawk Nation proudly.
Those two Seniors were integral this year as Matt Adams had a lot of success and Mike Thorpe ended his Soccer high school career as the all time leading scorer for the Hawks.
Baseball got off the mat after finding themselves down 6-2 after 3 innings and scored a 11-8 victory for their first district win against Yoakum on Saturday after the rain delayed the contest with wet field conditions.
Now, Canyon Lake can take a morsel of this success and continue through this rough District 26-4A teams. This week CL will be traveling to Gonzales and then back home this Friday as they face an undefeated Navarro Panther team.
Hawk Golf teams finished their first round of games in the middle of the pack and on Monday will finish their season in Floresville for the 2nd and final day of hitting the links.
Another young team with just one Junior for the boys and finishing strong this Monday has a chance of seeing how far another team might progress as the next sports year gets going.
Track and Field will be taking up two days this week on Wednesday and Thursday and both the Boy’s and Girl’s teams have a legitimate chance of coming home with district titles.
Depth has been the key for both track squads and now seeing how this group of athletes perform on those two days will help solidify another young group of students.
Their are some Seniors that are playing key roles this year for the Girls and Boys and that leadership could help in getting these two Hawk teams across the finish line.
Softball had to delay their one game last week to this coming Monday because of that heavy downpour last Friday.
This group of ladies has their work cut out for them as their backs are against the wall and getting wins is a necessity in trying to continue playing after district season concludes.
Very possible and attainable and having the opportunity is all you can ask. So this week will have 3 games and 3 wins will put them in a position for making their run(s).
Go Hawks!!
