Series Record: First Game between the schools.
============================================
BTC finished their season with a 10-2 record and will hope to continue that same type of campaign this year too.
Offensively, the Warriors (same mascot name as Bracken) averaged 52 points per game.
This team will be primarily a run offense but will be returning their leading passer from last year in Cameron Collie who had a .723 completion rate for 845 yards.
Rushing wise Bastrop lost their main weapon to graduation, but this team will have many players that will be able to take his place. The Warriors graduated 2111 yards of their total rushing of 3317 yards.
That main rusher Will Pahlow was from a Freshman with 405 yards for a 17 yards per tote average and 6 touchdowns.
Tribe’s return Blaine Smith as the leading receiver after 111 yards on 5 receptions as a Junior.
Defensively the Tribe had 10 interceptions last season while giving up 25 points per game.
First game of the season will be different than those stats above as this is the opening for both teams and how well they jelled during practice will or could be a deciding factor on the results.
Bracken Christian opened their season last year with a ton of freshman and now the Bracken Nation will see if the adage of a team improving the most between the first and second game might be the same motif for years also.
Will those used to be Freshman improve the most from their Freshman to their Sophomore year will be realized soon and that first grade will come in the form of scoring more points than Bastrop Tribe Consolidated.
Presley Day finished his Freshman year by breaking the 1,000 yard marker finishing with 1,032 and 13 touchdowns. That season ranks 7th on the All-Time list for yards in a season.
Compared to Grady Achilles, the all time leading rusher, Day had 70 yards more on 26 less carries. That is some good company to be in as Grady Achilles Sophomore year he ballooned up to 2,264 rushing yards.
Another good weapon can come from Cristian DeLeon as a tall Junior now and a Warrior that is also moving up the receiving marks for Bracken players. DeLeon is 5th all time with two years remaining and has a legit chance of passing Jeff Camp total of 1,428 yards.
More good news will come from Quarterback as Brady Beene will be a Senior and has the record for most completions in a game with 17 in last year’s playoff game with Tyler Street. Beene also reached a record for passing yardage in that same game with 369 yards.
So the offensive pieces are in place and with more players at the start of this season, BCS will have enough man power to field a decent defensive unit.
That part of the game will give Warrior fans a good indication of what this year might be like.
The ReSporter feels this will go down as a Bracken win as Bastrop lost much more weapons from last season while the Bracken Warriors are just getting their players to a point of improving enough from last year and having more and better results with the end of their season.
Go Warriors!!
