============================================================
There is no turning back now as Volleyball had their first serve last Tuesday as the season opened with an 0-2 record against two good schools.
Scherz Clemens was dominant and Liberty Hill got out of the Hawk nest with a 3-2 match.
The Hawks then sauntered over to Wimberley for their annual Tex-Fest Tournament and ended with one more win than last year’s club but with a loss to 6A Laredo United, CL finished the week at, 5-3.
Not a bad start as Canyon Lake had some good times and bad and a team ready to improve as this season heads for district later in the season.
One thing The ReSporter noticed was how well transfer student, Anna Bettersworth could block shots as this year’s matches began.
With 33 rejections in the first 8 games, Bettersworth is already on a pace to be a Hawk all-time leader in this category. Those 33 blocks already has a ranking of 8th for CL with a career best of 82 by Bailey Drum.
There is a lot of players that just need games and repetition to be ready for a run at a District 28-4A Championship.
This week, the Volleyball team will be in Lockhart on Tuesday and then another tournament, this time in San Antonio’s North East Tournament at Churchill.
Football has just completed the second week with a scrimmage with Smithville and you can read all about that event with 3 articles on the Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity in The ReSporter.
Cross Country has also been feverishly training for what could be a break out year as this will be the most competitive group in the Hawk’s history.
Good things for a Good group of students!!!
Go Hawks!!!
