Volleyball will get interesting as this next Friday the District 28-4A schools will start their quest for a championship.

This is also a new alignment year and you will have two teams that will be trying to defend a district title as Boerne won their district last year playing all the same schools but Canyon Lake and the Hawks won their district too.

On Tuesday, the teams will have their last usual non-district affairs and Friday will start the fireworks.

Canyon Lake will play a tough La Vernia squad on Tuesday and then will have a bye on Friday as having a 5 team district will leave one team rotating each play date as the odd school out scenario.

The ReSporter will use the next few moments in reporting about common opponents that might give some meaning on which school might have a better track record based on those outcomes.

Common opponents for Canyon Lake and Boerne comes from games with Blanco, Navarro, Marion, and soon to be La Vernia.

Both schools beat Blanco with the Hawks having a slight advantage with a 3-1 (Hawk win) vs. 3-2 (Greyhound win).
Navarro played Boerne in a tournament and were beaten 0-2 while the Hawks lost last week to the Panthers 1-3.

Boerne was beaten by La Vernia in a tournament 0-2 and the Hawks have the Bears coming to town this Tuesday.

Pretty close games in comparison and how CL does this Tuesday would go a long way in giving an idea of how this match-up might shape up in district competition.

Fredericksburg and Boerne played a very tough schedule and the Billies had 5 games to compare with the 6th game coming with a La Vernia game this this week.

Poth beat Freddie while losing to Canyon Lake, 3-1 giving the advantage Hawks.
Marion lost two games to the Billies (2-1 & 2-0) while the Hawks beat Marion (3-2 & 2-0) which would make that contest a draw.
Bastrop and San Marcos was beaten by both schools in tournament play by 2-0 scores.
Wimberley beat Freddie, 3-1 while Canyon Lake just won their contest by that same margin, 3-1. That is a big advantage Hawks.
La Vernia beat Fredericksburg, 2-0 while the Hawks will see how they do on Tuesday.

Deduce at this stage that Canyon Lake is on the good side of the ledger in comparing those schools.

Bandera has a decent record going into district but their opponents were not across the board as tough as what your Hawks played as a whole. There will be 5 common opponents with the Bulldogs when that same team, La Vernia, finishes their game with CL on Tuesday.

San Marcos was beaten by both schools, 2-0 in tournament action. Even
Marion beat Bandera, 2-0 while Canyon Lake won both games over Marion giving the advantage to the Hawks.
Wimberley beat Bandera two times once in a tournament and as a single game, 0-3 and 0-2. Advantage Hawks.
Poth was also on the winning side playing Bandera beating the Bulldogs, 2-0 while your Hawks beat Poth and giving the advantage to CL.
La Vernia won 3-1 in their game with Bandera and the Hawks will have that glue game this week and giving a good idea how CL can stack up with all 3 teams mentioned thus far.

Based on those games, Canyon Lake has an advantage with Bandera while Freddie also has the edge going to the Hawks albeit closer.

Boerne has a slight edge for CL,  but that comparison is much closer and a clear advantage cannot be bolded.

Go Hawks

         Go Hawks Win District

Hondo had just one game that Canyon Lake had in common and Blanco beat the Owls as the Hawks beat the Panthers at their house, 3-1. Advantage Hawks.

Tuesday will be the contest to see how Canyon Lake plays and telling a huge story for this year’s race with three of the district schools.

Canyon Lake and Boerne are both trying to repeat as Champions and this year only one can claim that prize or lose based on game results.

Come out this Tuesday and watch Canyon Lake go to war with the Bears in the Hawks final pre-district game.

Go Hawks Beat the Bears!!
