The Buffaloes have a schedule peppered with former schools that were regulars on the Hawk schedule.

Giddings opened the season in Navarro and then had Wimberley make a trip to their stomping grounds last week.

The Buffaloes are batting .500 after those first two games as Navarro jumped out to a 23-7 lead that was not threatened for the rest of that contest winning, 37-21.

Last week Wimberley suffered their first loss this season by 10 points, 24-14 to  Giddings and now the Buffaloes will be stampeding into the Hawk nest.

Giddings had a very successful season last year as they suffered one loss in the 3rd round of the playoffs as they plowed through their schedule during last year’s campaign.

In their first game this year, Giddings, was playing an opponent all too familiar to the Hawk family as Navarro and Hawks run the same offense.

Navarro rushed for 311 yards in that opening game with Giddings which would give warm fuzzies for Hawk fans except that game can give a team an advantage in preparing for a Slot-T offense when those two games are in Giddings first 3 contests of the season.

Canyon Lake will have their work cut out for them as they try to build on the momentum of winning their first two games and this time within a 4A classification.

Those first two opponents, the Hawks, had their residence in 3A & 5A classifications and the Hawks will see if they can add another class to their winning resume.

CL Hawks can boast a solid offense averaging 441 yards per game but it will be the defense that will carry the lunch pale in this game as a key ingredient plays into how consistent Canyon Lake can be as in these past few years, inconsistency has been a consistent.

The Hawks are giving up 170 yards per game after playing Spread and Rushing offensive schools.

Ben Fulton has been very good with his passing game while the offensive running game is averages 319 on the ground and a respectable 125 yards via the pass.

Austin Brennan leads in the rushing game with 248 yards with 314 total yardage when adding his receiving yardage.

Both teams come into the contest with 3 interceptions and CL has Sophomore Grayson Lee leading with 12 tackles after two games.

Lee Stafford and Kenneth Jowers are next in that category with 11 and 10 respectfully.

Defensive End Richard Rosas with 3 sacks and is a constant in the opponents backfield and Senior Dylan Compton will be key in tonight’s game for helping put pressure on Giddings offense.

Go Hawks!!
