This will be a weird week as the Hawk’s Football team will play on a Thursday and have their Sub-Varsity games on Wednesday.

The games were moved up to see if the players will play better since the students seem to not have their head in the sync during Fair Day festivities.

So, CL will now have two consecutive weeks of playing on a Thursday with a road game with Austin Akins on a Thursday.
The Austin schools have to share football fields and this was the result of that scheduling.

Regardless, the Hawks will have their work cut out for them this week as Lampasas has had CL’s number the past two games and with a two game losing streak this season to boot. Canyon Lake will have to rebound and start getting their mojo back.

Those two wins earlier this season are not stacking up with marquee wins as both Blanco and Reagan have a combined 1-7 record.

Wimberley took CL’s running game away by winning the trenches and putting the Hawks in a position of having to pass, which is not a strong point for a ground hugging machine. Rushing yards were hard to come by and two touchdown passes plus a kick-off return would make this a winnable game but field position and not having any running lanes caused a traffic jam loss.

Volleyball will have one game at home on Tuesday against La Vernia. This game will give the Hawks a good idea how they stack up with their District 28-4A Sisters, as the Bears have played and beaten Boerne, Fredericksburg, and Bandera up to this point.

So a win would be good for moral and in showing how each of those teams in district stack up with this version of Hawk Power.

Each week, the Hawks, seem to be communicating better with passes and consistency, which is what Coach Paisley will confess as the biggest attribute in having a competitive team.

The ReSporter has an earlier article two days ago on how this year’s district might play out by going over those common opponents during the pre-district season.

Canyon Lake will be off this Friday and start in earnest the next week for a chance of finishing first and becoming the first team not only to win a district title but also defending one.

Team Tennis started last week and the Hawks are wet behind the ears as they start competing with schools that have a lot of talent. This week, Canyon Lake will host La Vernia on Wednesday starting at 4pm.

Cross Country’s teams were in a tough field this past Saturday as the Hawks competed with some larger schools at the TLU Meet. CC will be in Fredericksburg this Saturday and another chance of running with district comrades to get a feel of what times will be needed to get to another Regional.

Freshman Football continues an undefeated season and will be in action in Lampasas on Wednesday. Junior Varsity will try to scrub off the doldrums from their game with Wimberley and get back on the winning track this week.

Go Hawks!!
