Games that have common opponents? There is just one game with Wimberley that a comparison can be made.

CLJV is On-Point for wanting win against Boerne

The Texans won both games and beat Canyon Lake worse than they beat the Greyhounds, therefore, the Hawks will lose this Friday.

That was an easy √ off for this Homecoming week and nothing else needs to be said.

It is never that easy but we will deduce some other items that might give some ideas of what might happen for this Friday’s tilt.

The Greyhounds average right at 8 yards per pass attempt as Brooks Klutts will also run and has accumulated 233 yards this year giving the Hawks an idea of how important it will be to stop this player as priority one.

Getting pressure and containment would give CL a huge advantage.

Priority number 2 would be in keeping receiver Douglas Hodo contained, who has 27 receptions for 462 yards and most of those plays have come recently and Hodo might have replaced Carter Snelling as Klutts first option.

Another angle on that conclusion might come from having opponents that might be concentrating on Snelling giving Hodo more open space for receptions. That would be a major concern on picking your poison in how you might like to help slow down this passing attack.

Colton Pool is the work horse as the Greyhounds running back and he averages 6 yards per carry with a total of 474 yards thus far this season.

Boerne has the capability to beat their opponent by pass or run but their bread and butter will come from the air on most game nights.

Boerne’s defense might be the bigger part of the game that would influence the result. The Greyhounds have done a good job in holding teams below their average and this will be a big indicator on how this game will be impacted.

Canyon Lake had a 6 quarter offensive snooze which started in the second half against Giddings and continued for the Wimberley game that followed that contest.

Wimberley did a good job of stopping the Hawks running game and that forced CL to pass which helped keeping the game close. Their defense got too many stops which helped forge the 10 point loss to the Texans.

Canyon Lake did have a special team touchdown and scored twice by the pass which could have been three if a questionable penalty that called back that touchdown pass in this game.

The Hawks should be rested and ready for action as the offense has 3 backs that are producing and that will allow Boerne a chance to pick their poison in this game too.

Questions that will help in determining the winner.

Can Canyon Lake establish the run? Can CL get more than 2 stops in the game? Can the Hawks force more turnovers? and finally, Can Canyon Lake win the Special Team game?

Getting some positives from those questions could have the Hawks with smiles on their faces on this Homecoming night.

Go Hawks!
