Another week of Hawk activities is in the books and last week CL had some ups and downs.
The Volleyball Team has now finished their first round of District 28-4A competition with one loss and still have a good chance of finishing 1st or 2nd.
With their loss to Fredericksburg, Canyon Lake will need to sweep the next round meaning a big road game at the Billies gym to have a chance of sharing the district crown or with the help of the other 3 teams having a chance of sitting alone on top.
The Billies are on a roll and finished the first round unscathed and now with an off date this Tuesday, CL will start their round with a home game against Boerne this Friday.
That night will also have a game of the top 2 teams in District 14-4A as the Greyhounds football team will be our visitors on the gridiron as well.
A good night to come and see this year’s Volleyball club and then a short walk to the football game that will start at 7:30pm.
Canyon Lake’s Football crew will have their biggest game of the year as the passing game of Boerne will make their entrance to the Hawk Nest with a good defensive unit to match.
The Hawks had a predictable win over Austin Eastside Memorial and now come into this contest with a 3 game winning streak and that momentum will be needed for a win and break the 2 game losing skid to the Greyhounds.
Fall Tennis is over and Cross Country will have their District 28-4A Meet this Wednesday in Bandera.
The CC team will look at improving their times to have a chance to advance but the cards this Hawk team has to play with will be a tough road to run with two of the teams ranked in 4A Top Ten Schools and Bandera/Hondo being no slouch.
“Cassandra Lueth received a medal for a 16th place finish on Varsity and Jaren (Marmolejo) did get a 24th out of over 90 boys,” Head Cross Country Coach Mary Beth Gallagher said. “It was 94 degrees in the afternoon when we ran and we just wanted to familiarize ourselves with the course.”
Basketball gets closer to their start in November and CL’s Football and Volleyball will be playing more games as both are in good shape to place in those two sports. Seeding is the key for both clubs and that means every game is a must win.
Go Hawks & Beat Boerne!!
