Canyon Lake had another good week as the Volleyball team beat a good Bandera squad with a sweep and can hopefully take the momentum to a Tuesday date with their game with Wimberley in the first round of the 2016 playoffs.
Wimberley has not lost a first round game in the playoffs since the before1996 and this will be a good measuring stick on how this team can regroup as the most important part of this season opens.
With State Championships out the ‘wazoo’ you will know that this is not the Texan’s first rodeo. The following gives a good idea of how well this school plays volleyball, 1999(3A), 2001(3A), 2002(3A), 2003(3A), 2006(3A), 2007(3A), have all ended their season as being the best in their division.
The Texans proved their worth last year when they finished the 4th seed and could still advance to the 3rd round which was one more game than what Canyon Lake advanced too after winning the district.
Now Wimberley resides in another district which will give the Hawks for a chance of playing this rivalry game with much more on the line.
A full house would be a great way of showing this year’s Volleyball squad that the Hawk Nation has their back in this first round contest.
Canyon Lake did not have a lot of action this past week but the Junior Varsity Football team was in action after missing a chance to play 3 weeks ago when Austin Eastside Memorial did not field a Junior Varsity team.
The Hawks traveled to Steele to face their JV-B team and this game proved to be another testament on how these larger schools never having an opportunity to face a school that puts a Slot-T offense on the field.
CL has seen this witnessed in games this season with Austin Akins and Austin Reagan as these larger enrollment schools found it hard in stopping this grinding running game.
This game was no different as the Hawk JV won this game, 22-6 and now will finish their season this Thursday on the road in Taylor.
Canyon Lake’s Varsity will be going where no other Hawk football team has ever gone when they will have an opportunity to play for all the marbles at home against Taylor as both teams share undefeated District 14-4A records. The winner will have the 1st seed and some good momentum going into this year’s playoff slate of games.
There is a Coaches Poll for each 4A Region schools and the Hawks reside in the 3rd spot for the 4A-Division 1, Region IV schools.

A big week with Volleyball and Football both have huge opportunities with important dates for advancing their sport and status.
If the Hawk Volleyball team beats Wimberley then their next bout will be announced for a Thursday or Friday next round contest.
Stay tuned for some great action This Week @ Canyon Lake!
Go Hawks!!
