“This was a good win for us,” Head Coach Zach Burleson started. “Lampasas is a tough place to play and to be able to come out with a win is good.”

Alexa Ramos was everywhere as this ever-ready battery lady was non-stop scoring 16 points with 7 steals and dishing out 4 assists.

“Alexa Ramos had a real good night slashing to the basket,” Head Coach Zach Burleson surmised. “It was her best as far at that goes.”

Not a bad days work as Ramos would harness 7 rebounds to finish out her effort in Badger country.

Reagan Heun finished with 13 points joining Ramos in double digit scoring as Heun moved past Amber Ramsey to 4th place on the all-time scoring charts for Hawk Basketball as she continues to climb those lofty charts.

This was not an overall good shooting night for Canyon Lake but by taking care of the ball the Hawks proved that one facet of this game can overcome other areas in this game.

“Our most positive stat was that we had 6 turnovers,” Coach Burleson said. “Anytime we have less than 10, we should win. Less than 15, we are in the game. So that was very positive.”

Those metric numbers on turnovers was evident for this contest as with that low turnover number the Hawks were able to get a 10 point win.

Freshman Jessie Melendez continued her strong play with 6 points and 7 rebounds which has been a solid and consistent tendency for the Hawk Coaches to rely on.

Now the Hawks will ready themselves for another tournament starting Friday in New Braunfels.

“We have a challenging tournament again and we will hopefully be up to that challenge,” Coach Burleson closed. “There is some work to be done still, but we are making strides.”

CL’s JV 1 was also victorious scoring a 17 point win as Sophia Barber (14) and Lainee Moses (10) finishing in double figures.
