Hawks Have Ugly Tournament at Fredericksburg

Canyon Lake just finished their 4 game tournament at Fredericksburg needing to go to a beauty salon after some ‘ugly’ games coming from the tourney 0-fer.

Offense was not in gear for these contests as the Hawks averaged 38.3 points having just 6 players able to break into the double digit cumulative scoring.

Everything was down in average for the 4 games with assists, steals, blocks, and rebounding. Luckily for CL the turnovers were down too but still not helping in the win column.

Average Before Tourney Tourney Average Now Average
 Points 53.1 38.3 49.6
 Assists 9.8 7.8 9.3
 Steals 10.0 4.5 8.8
 Rebounds 32.6 25.3 31.0
 Blocks 3.0 1.3 2.6
 Turnovers 20.1 17.3 19.4

The Hawks were getting shots, but those attempts went awry as CL’s percentages took a nosedive during the four contests.

Rory Preiss, Jacob Ramirez, and Heath McDonough carried much of the load in Fredericksburg but finding consistency was fleeting for the Hawks with each facet knowing there is much to be improved on before District 28-4A gets going in 2 weeks.

Longhorn Propane says Go Hawks

Only 3 players were able to reach double digit rebounds as Heath McDonough continues to show a strong game around the basket with 36, while Preiss and Tyler Williams each finished with 18 and 16 respectfully.

Now Canyon Lake will get back to work this Friday at the Hawk Nest when Karnes City comes calling and a chance for CL to get back into a groove that was evident before the Christmas Break.

In a previous article, The ReSporter, noted that this year’s team tied one other Hawk club with the best record before the Christmas break with both teams residing with a, 9-5 record.

That Hawk team finished the season with 9 wins that was the same number on their way to a long losing streak.

This was an ugly start but hopefully a face over will help CL find their shot this Friday.

Go Hawks!!
