Bracken Comes Up Short in Loss to the Bobcats, 74-70
Sunday, October 23rd, 2016
Bracken Christian in game earlier this year.
Bracken just could not catch up in their game with Living Rock Academy coming up short, 74-70 in this hard fought contest. It was the Warriors first district loss as LRA will go into their next week district contest undefeated.
Possessions would be an important aspect of those little things that will determine if a team will leave with a victory or loss.
Last week, that little thing was Paul Nakalanga winning the bonus kick contest and allowing BCS to win by scoring less touchdowns.
Volleyball: CL Hawks Swept by Billies, 3-0

The Battlin’ Billies lived up to their name last night when the Lady Hawks flew into town by clearing the court of feathers in three straight games, 25-20, 25-21, 25-11.
The Hawks could not seem to move the score ahead of the Billies and played each game from behind. At one point in the second game they went ahead by one point off and on, which gave hope that they might pull out a win. However, a win was just not meant to be.
Hawks Start Avalanche with Explosive Plays in Win over Billies, 45-25

Canyon Lake was all business in their win over the Fredericksburg Billies as the Hawks had more yardage gained in one game in their history winning, 45-25.
The Hawks remain in first place in District 14-4A Division I as they stayed 1/2 game ahead of Taylor after the Ducks beat Boerne, 15-7.
Canyon Lake has had a season with explosive plays this year as those offensive snaps had the Hawks running away from Fredericksburg.
Mountain Valley’s 7th Grade Score Big Wins over Fredericksburg
Friday, October 21st, 2016
Mountain Valley 7A team have talk after win over Billies
Mountain Valley Middle School took care of Fredericksburg Middle School on Thursday as both the A and B squads scored impressive wins.
Mountain Valley MS ‘B’ Team was first as this game was highlighted on the first driver for the Billies when Jonathan Alvarado almost took the deep snap for the Billies punting unit for a block and setting up the Hawks with a short field.
Needing 32 yards for a score the Hawks took 2 running plays by Tanner Davis. The first run went 31 yards to the Billies one yard line and then Davis finished off what he started darting in from the one for the first score, 8-0.
CLJV Hawks have Run-a-Way Win over Billies, 38-08
Thursday, October 20th, 2016
Caleb Almond was all business in game with Fredericksburg
It did not take long for CLJV to get the rust off after the first quarter and for the next 3 quarters score 38 points against Fredericksburg in a run-a-way win, 38-8.
“They (CL) fought hard and this game was a testament to them as this season has been tough,” Coach Bret Hodges said. “We are proud of them.”
Fredericksburg took the opening kick-off and after taking 5 minutes off the clock after driving 51 yards, the Hawk’s, stopped the Billies’ runner one yard short of a first down on the Canyon Lake’s 4 yard line.
It would take the running Hawks 11 plays to drive 111 yards for their first score. How did Canyon Lake have more yardage than the football field is long was adding up penalty yardage assessed on this drive.
Five different running backs had a chance to advance the ball on the drive and then Connor Rose broke a 33 yard scamper for that first score and, 8-0 lead.
Football: Coaches Corner with Charley Drum
Thursday, October 20th, 2016

Defense played a key factor in last week’s Boerne game. (mjrphotog.com)
The ReSporter: Do you feel that with so many passing offenses these days that a running offense like the Hawks have installed help when facing defenses that are always preparing for passing teams rather than a rushing offense?

Head Coach Charlie Drum
Coach Drum: “Definitely, our offense is very physical and it is hard to simulate in practice while preparing for it.”
The ReSporter: What are your concerns this week as you prepare for Fredericksburg?
Coach Drum: “Facing a team that is coming off a bye week, while we are playing our 9th game in a row is somewhat worrisome. We expect a very intense and emotional game and need to bring the same mindset we had last week against Boerne.”
Canyon Lake Broadcasting’s Future
Wednesday, October 19th, 2016Canyon Lake Broadcasting’s Future
The idea was a simple one as we started thinking through the next phase of having the students at Canyon Lake highlighted in a market that leaves CL in the dark for the most part.
Yes, the New Braunfels’ paper covers the Hawks but for obvious reasons this paper has many other schools that are much larger that demands their attention.
Hence, The ReSporter and now Canyon Lake Broadcasting (CBL) is in their first year of working football games for the Hawk Nation.
