Canyon Lake’s Lady Soccer team had their best regular season win on Friday night when the Hawk’s beat Fredericksburg, 1-0 for their second district win in a row.

The last time CL had a two game winning streak for district contests was back during the 2010 season. That Hawk team finished their district slate with an 8-5-1 record.

This win over the Billies was the 2nd time in 11 games, the last time CL won this match-up was during the 2014 season when the Hawks won, 3-0.

Now Canyon Lake is in their 3rd year of having Fredericksburg as a district contest and the Hawks have their first win when the games count.

“Last night’s game was a milestone for this program,” Head Coach Ryan Tierney said with resolve. “After beating Fredericksburg for the first time in the last three years….this win is definitely up there with our first playoff win in program history last year.”

The ReSporter would put this contest in the ‘It’ category as this year’s Boys Basketball had their ‘it’ party after beating Boerne during their season.

Canyon Lake’s last three contests keep getting better as their game with Wimberley was right there for the taking and the learning curve with this group of ladies looks like the New York Stock Exchange these past couple of months.

“I told the girls after the game that we played quality football,” Coach Tierney continued. “Passing, moving, attacking, defending, and goalkeeping…..it all came together tonight and it’s because of their hard work.”

Canyon Lake is on the verge of having a storybook season and the book had an astonishing chapter, how the Hawks will have to stay in the moment to finish the book!

“The second round starts on Monday at Boerne,” Coach Tierney talked like a coach. “So we quickly have to refocus and see if we can’t continue to reach new milestones….with this group, I believe anything is possible.”

Congrats and Go Hawks!!
