CL Hawks Take Bulldogs Bone in Win, 9-6 also Top 3 Season and All-Time
Canyon Lake are now occupying 2nd place in District 28-4A after a win over Bandera, 9-6 on Tuesday night.
“We played well early in getting up, 7-0,” Head Coach John Gallagher started. “I think we relaxed and Bandera got four runs off two of our errors…. but we were able to put up two more runs in the 7th.”
Coach Gallagher finished, “(Maddy) Puente threw well into the 5th (inning) and (Maggie) Banks closed for us.”
The Hawks had some anxious moments after a 4 run 6th inning by the Bulldogs that brought this contest much
closer than CL would want to be leading 7-6 going into that last inning.
It is the Freshman that have shown a knack for raising the bar offensively as this District 28-4A race will enter the second round of district games next week.
Fredericksburg was hit by a road block in their loss to Boerne and that puts the Greyhounds on the inside track going into the final stretch and Canyon Lake alone in second place.
CL will face Boerne on their home turf in this next round after suffering a loss to this same Greyhound team already, making this game a must win for Canyon Lake to have a chance of finishing first when the dust settles.
The Hawks will now go to work for this next week to come up with a plan in beating a streaking Boerne team next Tuesday.
A win can hopefully be realized when the curtain opens next week.
On this night a break out game by Marley Carrizales after being injured and Maddy Puente who continues her streak of more than one hit per game at 6 contests.
Those two had 7 hits while Adriana Peaslee had 2 doubles and 3 rbi’s for the Hawks.
Canyon Lake will have the rest of this week off and then will meet up with Boerne next Tuesday in Boerne for what should be the outright or sharing the district crown.
Go Hawks!!!
