CL Hawks Volleyball Beat Austin Akins for 3rd in Gold Bracket

Faith Hasness continued her strong Senior campaign in Sinton

The Lady Hawks finished their 2nd day with a 3rd place finish in the Gold Bracket, at the Sinton Volleyball Tournament giving Canyon Lake an 11th place finish out of 32 schools.

A win over Austin Anderson to start the day was good, but a set back against St. Joseph put the Hawks with a final game with Austin Akins for the 3rd place finish in this bracket.

In the loss a Hawk slow start was the difference as Canyon Lake could not win the 3rd game and that loss solidified the Hawks to the Gold Bracket with the other one loss teams in pool play.

On what the Hawks gained in this tourney, Coach Kim Paisley commented, “We definitely got more touches on the ball and we had more people getting to play….but we still have a lot of work to do.”

Coach Paisley was wanting a better showing than the 4-2 record but this tournament did have more schools with a closer attendance mark as the Hawks which Paisley was shooting for as CL still works on getting their setter in a better comfort zone when district play comes calling.

Hill Country Furnishings says Go Hawks

Canyon Lake will host Poth this Tuesday and then will finish with their last tournament in San Marcos this coming week. The Rattler Tourney starts on Thursday and finish on Saturday.

On Friday, the Hawks, will welcome Blanco to the Hawk Nest for another battle with a team that still has a winning record against the Hawks with the Panthers holding a 4-3 edge.

A chance for several games this week and many more touches.
