Hawks victory over the Lockhart Lions was their 6th win in the last 7 games as this team will now prepare for the Sinton Tournament starting this Friday.

Canyon Lake started with a much tougher game than they wanted as Head Coach Kim Paisley had used up all her timeouts before the first rotation had finished.

“I don’t remember what i told them,” Coach Paisley recalled. “I felt pretty calm and confident and it was obviously close and good for us to pull it off.”

Y L says Lets to Go Hawks

CL was down 19-22 and 20-23 before Amber Voigt finished out the contest with an ace and a kill by Anna Bettersworth and Riley Mickey. That had the Hawks scoring the final 5 points for the hard fought victory.

The Hawks did not take control of the 2nd game until Voigt and Faith Hasness were able to secure some separation on consecutive serves that had CL leading, 17-14.

During Paige Bowers service Bettersworth would continue a rally with two blocks and a Bowers ace that helped pull away for a, 25-18 win.

Canyon Lake did not waste any time in the best of 5 match when Hasness opened the game with 9 straight service points that had kills by Mickey and Bettersworth that were bookmarked with two aces for a Lion deflator and runaway match winner, 25-7.

Bettersworth led Canyon Lake with 15 kills while Mickey continued her strong play finishing with 7 kills helping with the final Hawk outcome.

“Our intensity got stronger and that makes it easier to see the court, because our bodies are always moving,” Bettersworth recounted in response on how much stronger the Hawks were to finish the set.

                      Says Go Hawks

On what the team will take from this game as they leave for the Sinton tournament, “Normally we dig a hole and we need to never play down and we need to bring that to Sinton,” Bettersworth said.

Coach Paisley had a chance to see all the players in game action as she continues to use different combination of players on the court.

“We have a good shot,” Coach Paisley said on their chances of coming back with a championship. “We will need to win our pool and start cleaning up the little things….we need to Start Strong, Stay Strong, and Finish Strong.”
