Hawk Freshman Lose in 4th Quarter to Giddings, 22-12

The Hawk Freshman team was close to pulling off another win on Thursday night but one play spelled doom for CL for this loss to Giddings, 22-12.
Canyon Lake had an advantage for most of the game and was on their way to icing the game when a fumble stopped the drive while the Hawks were on the Giddings 2 yard line with enough downs that would make the game a two score lead with 6 minutes left to play.
Giddings would start their drive on the 3 yard line when they were facing a third down and 5 yards needed to continue their drive.
A wide open receiver would make good on his catch as the Buffaloes would gallop 70 yards on that one play while Giddings had amassed just 160 yards up to that point in this game.
After that pass, the Buffaloes next 3 plays were over 10 yards with the last play going 43 yards with a one play drive to put the finishing touches to the turn-a-round contest.
To start the game, Giddings drove for 75 yards in 10 plays for the first score.
From that point to the ‘Pass Play’, Canyon Lake would control the game with the next two scores.
It took just 5 plays for a response drive to Giddings first score when Ryan Rivali scored on a 4 yard run to tie the score.

The Hawk defense was on cue for Giddings next drive with a 3 play and a punt that would put CL back in business on their 33 yard line.
This drive had a 41 yard pass play from QB Peyton McMullen to Julian Theiss and then a 26 yard scamper by Derek Wiatrek for the lead, 12-6.
The next big play would be the Gidding’s pass play as Canyon Lake would control this game for the most part up until the 70 yard play that that doomed the Hawks.
Canyon Lake will be back in action next week when they meet the Wimberley Freshman.
