Hawks Volleyball Beat Boerne to Start District 28-4A Play

Paige Bower, Faith Hasness, and Alysha Perez get down to business in Hawk win over Boerne.

Canyon Lake Volleyball team did what needed to be done in their win over Boerne on Tuesday night at the Hawk Nest.

CL swept the Greyhounds giving Boerne their first loss in District 28-4A play as this was the first Hawk game in district play.

The Hawks trailed only one time in the first game as Canyon Lake had their largest lead, 19-12 on their way to the victory.

Alysha Perez and Anna Bettersworth controlled the net throughout the first game.

During the second game, both teams were in a tug-of-war as each school seized control as both tried to gain traction.

With the Hawks up, 5-4, Boerne would have a 5 point rally to get some separation leading, 9-5.

It was a back and force affair, as CL scored 3 points on a Farley serve to only give those points back after the Greyhounds broke that serve to regain their 6 point lead, 17-11.

Hanna While would take the reins next on her serve as the Hawks have a 6 point rally to get back in the contest.

Bettersworth had a block and kill during that rally with two more kills coming from Perez.

Canyon Lake had an unforced error on their game point serve that gave Boerne one more chance to seize control. That they did with a 5 point rally that not only tied the game but gave the Greyhounds a serve to win this 2nd game of the set.

The Hawks would have that chance with one of many service errors from Boerne that allowed Perez to serve for the win.

Canyon Lake would start their 3rd game in a hole as the Greyhounds broke from the gate with a 5 point rally.

Another White serve would tie the score as Bettersworth would have 3 of her kills during this come back and White contributed 2 aces.

Mima's says good game Freshman Hawks!!CL would get their first lead, 16-15 with White serving again in the rotation. As a kill by Bettersworth would highlight this lead.

Canyon Lake would get no further than a 3 point lead for the remainder of the set as that would end up being the difference in the, 25-22 win and sweep.

The Hawks will be on the road to Hondo this Friday as they hope to keep their unblemished record going into the second week of district competition.
