Lady Hawks Take Out Owls One Feather at a Time
Tuesday night, the Lady Hawks dominated the court against the Lady Owls who were no match for the green and gold team who took the match in three games straight, 25-11, 25-13 and 25-16.
The only thing the Owls had going for them were very well placed tips which gave them a number of their points. However, the Hawks recovered easily and the tips never moved Hondo ahead in any game. Not at any time did the Owls even threaten to move ahead of the Hawks.
Anna Bittersworth controlled the net in blocking and spiking power as well as long service streaks. Joining her on the front line was Alysha Perez, equally as commanding at the net with her spiking ability. Riley Mickey was also a force to be reckoned backed up with sets from Faith Hasness and Raegan Cowan.
The plucking ended quickly, which placed the Lady Hawks in second place for district play. Since Hondo had managed to beat Bandera that placed the Lady Hawks in a tied position for third place, until Tuesday night.
“We had to win this game to take second,” Coach Kim Paisley said. Though the first four teams go on to the playoffs, Paisley indicated it was nice to be in a solid second place.
The Lady Hawks play Fredericksburg this Friday night starting at 5pm with the Sub-Varsity squads and then the Varsity 6pm.
