MV Hawks 7th B Squad Potty Trains Bullpups in, 14-0 Win

Mountain Valley 7th Grade continues their winning ways as the A & B team both ran over the Burnet Bullpups on Thursday at the Hawk Field.

MV B squad was first up by playing a defense that would have Burnet with only 2 plays that went for positive yardage. Two 2 yard runs was the totality of the damage these Pups would inflict on the Hawks.

Running Back Everett Robuck after big game against Burnet.

MV would play the first half on Burnet’s side of the gridiron and had their first series of downs go for the only points this game would need when QB Acosta ran the ball in from one yard out.

Standifer would add the 2pt conversion and Mountain Valley would be in business.

The 2nd half would have the same scenario as MV’s first time with the ball a drive for 67 yards would be the result. Everett Robuck would be the main weapon for this drive as this Hawk running back with a 40 yard rumble that was not going to be denied.

“They (offensive line) gave me the hole,” Robuck recalled on this 40 yard dash to the end-zone. “When I saw the hole, I knew it would be, EZ….it was a perfect hole that happened at the perfect time.”

McLaughlin would set the play up rushing for 15 yards before Robuck would get in gear for his run to paydirt.

These runs would have many Hawk helping plow the holes for this game as Robuck made a point to give players like Wyatt Bates the credit as he was potent on both sides of the ball.

Lineman Wyatt Bates was making holes for running backs in win over Burnet

In holding Burnet in negative yardage, Bates was to the point when he said, “We just stopped them and our plan was to just stop them.”

Defensively, Mountain Valley was lethal keeping the Bullpups with no yardage in the 2nd half as Burnet could not get anything positive in this contest.

Bates and the rest of the line spent most of this game in the opposition’s backfield as the Bullpups QB could have easily had the hand-off given to a Hawk as both the offense and defensive line controlled this game.

The Pups were being potty trained in this win while next week the 7th Grade will be on the road to Marble Falls and next home game comes October 26th when Fredericksburg comes to The Lake.

Congrats and Go Hawks!!
