Lady Hawks JV Have Complete Game Victory over Somerset JV, 55-10

Canyon Lake’s JV squad took Somerset into Winter after getting after the Bulldogs, 55-10.

Sophia Barber was scored 19 points in win over the Bulldogs.

Once that Sun Set, then the Winter made for what would be a long night of basketball for the

visitors. The score was tied at 2 points a piece within the first minute but the next two point basket by Somerset would take place at the 5:50 mark of the 3rd quarter.

By that time, the Hawks, has scored 35 points and turning out the lights for what should have been a running clock.

Sophia Barber finished with 19 points and was accompanied in the double figure scoring department with Emily Geist (12) and Josiah Hespen (10) who had a solid game. In fact, every Hawk scored except for Madison Harwell.

Harwell made her presence known on the defensive side of the court swatting away 8 Somerset shots that would help compliment this contest. Every Hawk was able to get an assist which tells a story on how well this game transpired.

“We have been working on our new offenses and this team has been playing together and they have made for an easy transition,” Head JV Coach Megan Helmey said. “They work really well together and are very coachable.”

That was evident on this night as this night was over when the 11th point was scored with 4 minutes to go in that first quarter of play.

“We have a new team with some of us that were not moved up,” Guard Barber dished out, “I want to be a leader and I like how we are going right now….we are making friendships and are getting to know each other in getting our chemistry.”

CL had a good night and will look to continue this season to see what else might be in store for the Hawks JV team.
