Well the Girls Volleyball team lost their 2nd Round of the UIL Playoffs against State Ranked Needville Blue Jays in straight sets.
Another winning season for CL, as this sport keeps adding to their all-time wins and continues to lead the way for all CL Hawk Sports in that category.
Hawk Volleyball finished the season with 205 total wins and carry a .574 winning percentage since official play started in 2009 season. This sport along with every other Hawk sport but football, started keeping wins and losses during their second year of varsity sports.
The only team that did not have that opportunity was the Football team as they continue to climb from a 1-9 first season. If that year had not been in the calculations, then Hawk Football, would be sporting a 50-48 record.
Congrats to Canyon Lake’s Lady Volleyball crew and we will look forward to the start of next season in August.
Many of those ladies will now ready themselves for other sports, with Basketball already started, after a convincing win over San Antonio Brooks Academy last Friday at the Hawk Nest, 71-43.
There could be an upswing with Basketball after fielding a slew of Freshman on all 3 teams last season. Now those ladies have one year under their belt and will continue to improve ,as they adapt to the speed for Varsity.
The Lady Basketball team will be on the road against Lehman this Tuesday and then return to the Hawk Nest on Friday as they take on Johnson City. That will be an early tip-off as those fans can enjoy a game and then have a get-together and listen to the Hawk’s Football team play for a District 14-4A Championship on the road in Taylor.
Before going into that game, the Hawk Boy’s Basketball will have their scrimmage against Blanco on Monday and then start games for real on Saturday against Veterans Memorial on the road for an early morning start.
This team is also waiting for some Football players to help bring reinforcements, but if things go well, then that might be more than a few weeks down the road.
The good news, is having several players that have committed to play Basketball only, giving Canyon Lake a chance of still making headway and gaining some important floor time.
Hawk’s Football is in the same situation as last season with their final contest being for all the marbles. The biggest difference is having to play on the road this time, in Taylor.
Those Ducks have a way of playing their best football during the second half of the season and if you are a historian for Hawk Sports, then you will also know that CL has not solved those Ducks in those last 3 games.
This should be an epic battle and if you cannot make the trip to Taylor, then come aboard to the Canyon Lake Broadcasting in log in for the Pre-Game Show at 6:15pm with game time scheduled for a 7:30pm start.
Busy week with the only off date coming on Wednesday….Go Hawks!!
