Alayna-Gayle says Go Hawks and Don’t be Pleasant this week!!

The Hawks came through with a good week as the Football team got past the first round with a solid win over Gatesville last Friday. The battle between the District 14 and 13 had the same results as last season with District 14 with one win and three losses.

Both years, the District Champion was the only team still left on their saddle after that first round. The other games had just one blow out as China Spring was able to take out the Taylor Ducks, 48-0. If you read between the lines then you will know that the Ducks had lost Andre Jones one of their best players in the Hawk game as well as some other good athletes after that Hawk loss.

China Spring would have certainly been on the winning side but a 48 point victory might not have looked as bad.

Liberty Hill and Boerne went to 3 overtimes and the Greyhound comeback was stopped by just 2 points, 50-48. A passing versus running game as the Panthers did not throw one pass for that game while the Greyhounds did run but passing was their main weapon with a salty 374 yards.

Waco La Vega would distance themselves from Fredericksburg but this ranked team did get a battle from the battling Billies, 26-7.

Now, Canyon Lake will be on a mission to make the 3rd round as the Hawks have not gone past this level in three tries.

The game will be in San Antonio at Gustafson Stadium on the southwest side of town.

CL’s Lady Basketball had a decent week after finishing the Austin Crockett Tournament with a 4-2 record and finishing in 3rd place. Alexa Ramos and Reagan Heun were both named to the All-Tournament team.

There were some ‘dogs’ in that group of teams, but as a whole the 6 games in 3 days will help in many ways as one of those victories was over Hondo who resides in the same district. That bodes well for a Hawk team with just enough Seniors to compliment that Sophomore class.

This week, the Lady Hawks will have two games in two days with Somerset scheduled for Monday starting at 5pm and then an early date on Tuesday with Boerne Champion. Those contests start at 10am and the varsity tip off around 11:15am.

CL’s Boys are off to a rocky start with two losses and will be playing two games the first two days of the week. Fox Tech will be a traveling day to San Antonio and then Canyon Lake will have their first home game on Tuesday when Llano comes to the Hawk Nest with the tip off starting at 2pm with the sub-varsity teams.

      Go Hawk’s beat Pleasanton!

A full day of Basketball on Tuesday if you are getting an early break for your Thanksgiving week then come out and support your Hawks.

CL’s Swimming team had a decent showing in Burnet last week as they had just one school in the same classification to garner more points than the Hawk team.

This sport is much like the Soccer teams, back in the day, when CL would be competing with the Smithson Valley, Dripping Springs, and other larger schools.

So a week that starts off with basketball and ends with a date on Friday night in San Antonio for football battle where the Hawks will work on making a Pleasanton ride back home.

Go Hawks!!
