Lady Hawks Left out in Cold in Loss to Boerne, 58-48

The Canyon Lake Hawks could not finish in their game with Boerne as they were outscored by 10 points in the final quarter losing to Boerne, 58-48 as they will try to regroup at home this Friday against Hondo.

Canyon Lake continues to have problems in games against district opponents as this was their 11th straight district loss during the last three seasons.

Their last win was played two years ago against Cuero as that Hawk squad made the playoffs with a 5-7 district record during that year.

CL came into this game with their best record ever (22-5) in pre-district affairs and will try to beat Hondo for the 3rd time this season to break this losing district skid.

The Hawks played the Hondo Owls twice during tournaments winning both games in low scoring slugfests. The Owls will enter this Friday’s game with a 1-1 record. The game will also be on Canyon Lake Broadcasting with an on air time starting at 6:15pm.

Reagan Heun, Chelsea Tschoepe, and Alexa Ramos all hit their average scoring per game but turnovers and missed opportunities from the free throw line would add up to enough lost points in this set back.

“We weren’t able to secure as many rebounds as we needed,” Head Coach Zach Burleson assessed. “We shot the ball decently, but had too many turnovers that were unforced.”

All truisms as district games will many times have certain aspects of games magnified and turnovers and shooting poorly from the charity stripe would all add up to a 10 point loss to the Greyhounds as the Hawks continue through their first round of games.

“We still had a real good shot of walking out of there with a win,” Coach Burleson closed.

The only problem with that, is that walking is a turnover and so during CL’s next game they will need to dribble out of the gym for a victory.
