Canyon Lake’s Swim Team came away in last week’s District 28-5A Meet with 20 personal bests. The team qualified in 3 Relays (girls medley, girls 200 free, boys 200 free), and Taylor Isley qualified in 2 individual evens (50 Free & 100 Free).
The Hawks had 14 Swimmers that will be traveling to Rosenberg next Thursday through Saturday to swim at the Regional Swim Meet.
That is some good news for this group of athletes as they continue to swim like their School Name has a Lake in it. Go Hawks Swimmers!!
The Girls Basketball team got revenge in their win over the Boerne Greyhounds in an Overtime contest. The game had neither team with more than a 7 point lead throughout this battle. CL’s win has them tied with Fredericksburg for 1st place as these two schools will be meeting this Friday for a chance to settle this race.
Both teams will need a win on Tuesday, but even if one them lose, then the game still has significance as a win on Friday would still put that winning school with the Championship or a tie for the crown.
Canyon Lake Ladies will travel to Hondo on Tuesday and that is always a tough place to come out victorious. The Owls will be ready to get back at the Hawks as this will be the 4th contest between the two schools this year.
The Boys Basketball team will need to see if they can bounce back from their loss to Boerne last Friday and Hondo will be the match-up on Tuesday at the Hawk Nest. A win would go a long way in securing a playoff spot for the 3rd year in a row.
CL’s Soccer willl be in action as the Boys won their games last week and now have reached 7 wins in their first 8 games of this campaign. That other contest was a tie and there have only been 2 goals scored on Canyon Lake as they will play Liberty Hill on Tuesday and then a day off on Friday.
The Girls Soccer crew will face off against Liberty Hill at home with their start time at 5:00pm before the boys get going.
Both teams are playing well and a chance for the Hawk Fans to see both groups on the same night at the same field. Not a common occurrence.
Softball will start up this Monday when Canyon Lake will start their pre-season at Johnson City starting at 5pm. The Softball team will be at it again on Saturday when they travel to Canyon High School for a 3 game scrimmage against larger schools.
Baseball will be next up in the batting order as their season will start one week after Softball get’s in the circle.
A good time to come out and enjoy all the different teams and support our High School Students.
Go Hawks!!
