Girls Basketball will take center stage this week as CL’s Girls will going to battle this Tuesday against Gonzales on Tuesday starting with tip-off at 6:30pm at Canyon High School in New Braunfels.
The Girl’s Basketball Team has been on a tear for much of this year and will now enter the playoffs for their 3rd time in the past 10 years. Two losses for Bi-District games has been the result and this Hawk team intends to stop that streak this campaign as they enter this playoff as a No. 1 Seed and that will pit CL against the 4th Seeded Apaches.
A win will have another contest later this week against the winner of the El Campo and Sealy affair.
The ReSporter will have a Pre-Game capsule on Monday to give more info for this Bi-District playoff contest.
CL’s Boys will have their final regular season battle against Boerne at home on Tuesday and a win would propel this year’s edition to their 3rd playoff season in a row. A loss will have Canyon Lake looking to see what happens in the Hondo/Bandera game. If Hondo wins, then the Hawks will have a tie breaker for the right to be a 4th seed for District 28-4A. (Stayed tune to The ReSporter as this scenario will be updated on this site on Wednesday)
Softball will start their regular season this Tuesday when Wimberley will be at the Hawk Nest for the first pitch. This Hawk Team will be minus some players that will be bouncing a larger ball in New Braunfels.
Softball will be having their first Tournament action starting on Thursday. The Lady Hawks will be playing some tough schools and by this week-end the Softball Girls will have a good idea of what will need to be worked on as this pre-district season is all about being sure this team is ready for district.
Several Girls still playing for the Basketball team and their absence will allow many of the other players to get valuable experience.
Soccer was not as successful this week as both the Girls and Boys started their district play with a loss.
The Soccer teams have just started their district and will entertain Wimberley this week. The Boys will be home while the Ladies will start their contest at the Texans home turf this Friday.
Baseball will enter their 2nd week of exhibition games as this crew had a good scrimmage against Llano this past week. A Tuesday game against Burnet with the Varsity at home and JV squad playing at the Bulldogs home.
Track & Field will be in the starting blocks this week and will host the Hawk Relays. The weather report has predicted 70 degree weather and should be ideal for these athletes. Both Hawk Teams will be going strong as both have around 70 athletes.
Depth is a key ingredient for this sport and by having a strong contingent can only help in garnering points and placing higher as a team.
Track & Field should have several athletes that can make a visit to the Hawk Nest an enjoyable day of watching these students start their season.
Come back to the ReSporter as we will have all the info for the Girls Basketball’s next game after they beat Gonzales.
It is a Win-Win situation for Canyon Lake as a win will ensure another day on the court or if the Hawks come on the short end of the stick, then there are several of the Ladies that will add depth to all the Spring Sports.
Go Hawks!!
