Baseball: Hawks Split 2 Games at the Devine Tourney

Canyon Lake split their two games at the Devine Tournament on Thursday with a win over Dilley, 9-0 and then losing to the host school, 8-1 in the night-cap.

In that first game, CL took a walk for this win as the Dilley pitchers could not find the strike zone and the Hawks opened up the game with 7 runs in the opening stanza.

The Hawks scratched across two more runs in the time shortened contest as Mason Lee had half of CL’s hits in the game and win.

Canyon Lake’s next game with Devine had different circumstances after striking out 13 out of a total of 18 outs for this contest. A tough battle that had Avery Montgomery starting on the mound and keeping the game close through those first 4 innings as CL had a 1-0 lead going into the bottom of the 5th inning.

The Dam finally broke in that inning as the Warhorses flooded the country-side scoring 5 runs and securing enough damage for the win.

Canyon Lake will continue the Tournament through this week-end.
