Canyon Lake Spring Broke Jourdanton, 11-3
Canyon Lake settled in for an 11-3 win over Jourdanton during Spring Break week at the Hawk Nest.
“We put the ball in play today,” Head Coach Victor Escamilla said.
Drew Tyra carried a hefty bat in CL’s win with 4 hits.
Drew Tyra led the Hawks with 4 hits while reaching base during his 5 times at the plate. Tyra was joined by 4 other players with multi hits in this contest. Brandon Robinson (3), Tanner Sellers (2), CJ Parrish (2), and Caleb Williams (2) were all in a zone.
Together these 5 Hawks reached base 18 times out of their 22 plate appearances.
Tyra did have some troubles on the pitcher’s mound but baseball will allow for some grace many times as you have chances with your glove and at the plate for redemption.
CL finished with 15 base hits while accumulating 8 walks as the base paths would be busy for this contest. With a 6 run 3rd inning, the Hawks would regain their lead while lapping the visitors with 4 more runs in those later innings.
Four doubles from the middle of the batting order added some extra zeal as the baseball looked like a beach ball for the Hawk batters in this game.
Matt Anderson had a good game relieving Tyra and finished with the win allowing just one unearned run and not allowing Jourdanton any chance of a comeback. Anderson’s record is 2-0 now with more chances for future games.
Canyon Lake will be in action tomorrow in Boerne as District 28-4A gets into action for the Hawks.
A remarkable pre-district record of 8-5-1 will have a chance of seeing if CL can make a dent in this tough district.
District 28-4A has 3 games for each school which will allow teams to see different pitchers and play the game much like you see college games.
