Baseball’s District 28-4A Standings & Musings, **Updated Standings
Avery Montgomery, Mason Lee and Matt Anderson each had major roles in Hawk Win over Bandera.
The Hawks are in an unfamiliar territory as CL’s Baseball Team will go into a pivotal contest this Tuesday on the road at Bandera. Canyon Lake has a .500 record and have been in this situation once, going back to their maiden voyage into the realm of playoff games during their 2010 campaign.

That Hawk team was the first Canyon Lake sport to go past the 1st round of the playoffs as this CL team swept Devine in a 3 game series and then headed south for their next opponent, Hidalgo who had a sparkling 25-6 record going into this Area battle and ranked 15th in the State of Texas.
Canyon Lake lost their first contest, 7-2 in a rain that would not stop and that wetness would move the Hawk’s down to Harlingen to complete the series because of an unplayable field.
CL would take that next game, 11-9 and then in a humdinger that was lost with 2 Hawks runners in scoring position and one hit away to win and upset these Pirates losing, 6-4.
Now there is a chance this year’s version might be able to get into a scenario of having a post-season like that 2010 year.
With that Hawk win last Friday, Bandera will have a must win for a chance of having a chance for making the playoffs.
The Hawks still have an opportunity of finishing in 3rd place with a win over Bandera and when Hondo returns for that 3rd game of a tied series after each school won on their home turf.
So a win on Tuesday and then taking care of business when the Owls come to the Hawk Nest can have CL in a position to control their own destiny and finish 3rd in district play.

Boerne beat Fredericksburg and will have their 2nd game this Tuesday with their scenario mirroring Canyon Lake’s predicament.
Hondo will have a bye and then a final round of games where each team still having one game remaining with each District 28-4A companion.
Your Hawks happen to be in a situation where both remaining home district games will have home field advantage with each contest giving CL a chance for ordering T-Shirts.
