Hawk Lady Varsity Finish 1st & Junior Varsity 2nd in Lockhart Relays

Track Ladies Lockhart Lion’s Relays
Canyon Lake Ladies Track & Field squad won their third Meet of the year after taking down several larger schools as they now prepare for an even tougher District 28-4A Meet next.
The Hawks were also short handed with other athletes competing in Softball and Soccer on the same night not being able to be at two places at the same time. That hurdle did not stop this crew from finishing on top.
“We moved a few people around this week and had a decent performance winning our 3rd meet of the year,” Head Coach John Barthels said. “I haven’t had a chance to really review the results yet but had some good times and anytime you run against bigger schools and can come out on top, then it shows the want that the girls have to do well. I am proud of our efforts and am looking forward to a good week of practice preparing for district.”
There were some larger schools, like Canyon and several 5A schools taking part in this track meet.
This meet also has the girls doing the field events while the boys are running and then they switch those events after they finish that part of the meet. Lockhart had lost some events due to that heavy rain the day before and so the long jump and triple jump were scratched as the girls would have needed a floatation device in case of an emergency trying to perform in that swamp.
Skylar Hurst led with 28 points while the other cast of scorers came through like clock work with a 19 point night by Lainee Moses followed by Audrey Schulze (18), Madison Churbe (15), and Alysha Perez finishing with 11 points.

Sierra Natal had a 12 point night as she gets her feet wet with another Varsity schedule. Alyssa Strickland was her usual self winning her 100 meter hurdle event as each meet continues to work and get those times lower. Strickland was moved up during this Lockhart Meet last year from the JV as this freshman has been a mainstay since as she took that promotion to the Region Meet last season.
CL’s JV had Caroline Kullber (22) and Landry Brown (21) led this squad as there had been many more former JV participants that had a chance to run on the Varsity this evening.
Randi Green had a chance and won the 100 meter hurdles without as many Hawks to beat as the Hurdles continue to be a strong event this year and Caroline Kullberg won the 200 meter dash and high jump.
That 100 meter hurdle event had CL placing 3 girls for the Varsity and Junior Varsity. The Varsity led by Strickland finished 1-2-3rd as Madison Blackburn made her debut coming in 3rd place. The Hawks finished 1-2-3rd in the open 400 meter dash with Sierra Natal upping her game with a 3rd place finish.
Audrey Schulze has been consistently scoring points in each meet and that will be a big help when district starts. It was good to see Madison Churbe winning her 200 meter dash event as she is always busy competing in multiple venues.
Both of the 4×400 relays were first place finishers and Hurst finished 1st Place in her specialty (400 meter dash) and in the high jump had a PR jumping 5-01 for that competition.
