Well it happened, for the fourth time this school season with another District 28-4A Championship, this time coming from this year’s edition of our Softball Team.
Canyon Lake made no doubt after a white-wash in Bandera taking care of those Dogs, 16-0 to end their district season.
Now, CL Softball will start this Monday with a game against Fredericksburg for seeding purposes as these two schools tied for that top spot after splitting their two game series.
The two schools in District 27-4A that are waiting for who will be taking them on, is Navarro who will be paired with the Billie & Hawk loser and Gonzales will have a game against the winner of the Hawk battle with Freddie.
CL’s next game will be later this week and stay tuned to The ReSporter as that information will be shared with an article and will immediately be posted on the Flash Message on the Home Page.
Baseball will be entering their final week of their regular season and this year’s surprise team will be in the post-season as the 4th seeded team after a loss to Hondo last Friday, 5-2 in extra innings.
A contest with Fredericksburg on the road for Tuesday and facing Bandera on Friday for a team that has been waiting for this chance a long time. A good time to come out and take in some baseball and support another Canyon Lake sport that will be playing more games after that final regular campaign contest concludes.
Yes, CL has finished this year with every team making the playoffs and a first for the Hawks in their 10th year of existence, competing as a Varsity entity.
The Hawks will be on the road to Kingsville when the Boys and Girls take their road show with competition against Region 4. The top 2 will be invited to Austin if they should qualify and a chance to represent CL’s community.
The Lake’s Boys won the Area Meet last week, another first, and the Ladies finished in 3rd place with each team having a chance of scoring some meaningful points in this next level of improved competition.
Each Meet now will have other schools sending their best and CL can make a footprint to end this year of sports.
What a year so far and still a lot of action ready to be taken by several Hawks.
Mountain Valley will start their Baseball and Softball season with their opening game against Churchill this Thursday. A good time to come out to the Hawk Nest and check out the future teams with those games starting at 600pm.
Way to Go Hawks!!
