Canyon Lake’s Soccer Teams were both one goal away from tying their games with Giddings last Thursday, as both Boys and Girls had successful campaigns with winning records and another playoff year for both.
Congrats and now there will be many of those soccer athletes to bring reinforcements to the Track & Field teams as they prepare for their District Championship next week.
This past week had the Varsity Girls winning their 3rd meet of the season and the Boys finished 2nd behind a 6A Canyon High School. This was a good showing considering there were athletes for Baseball and Softball that could not be at two places at once. Track is many times won by having more students to get involved in as many events as possible in order of having a chance for accumulating more points.
That Lockhart Lion’s Relays had 6A and 5A schools and Canyon Lake was joined with Gonzales as two of the 4A varsity schools.
Both Track Teams will be working on getting their best performance for a good showing in district next week.
Softball finished last week with 2 wins and are now perched in 1st Place as the Ladies will be battling Bandera this Tuesday as this will be their last game in a first round of contests. A win will keep your Hawks in first place as they prepare for their last round of games.
CL will need to keep that same intensity with a chance of finishing one of the top 2 seeds for the playoff parings.
Bailey Bryan has been tearing the cover off of the softball as she has homered in her last 3 games and now with CL’s win over the District 28-4A favorite in Fredericksburg, can control their own destiny.
The Hawks next two Tuesday’s will be home games and a chance to come out and see another Hawk club with a legit chance of finishing on top.
Baseball is still in a race for qualifying for a playoff spot as they will finish their series with Fredericksburg this Tuesday and then a game with Bandera on Thursday will be a game that can elevate CL for a chance of having more games after their regular season comes to an end.
An earlier win over Hondo will go a long way for The Lake based on how well they perform against the Bulldogs.
Golf will tee off this week with against their district counterparts and this too might be a year where CL’s Boys Golf could qualify for playing in the Regions.
Not a lot of action but the games planned will go a long way for how well or long each squad can make their season go. The Softball game with Bandera will be Live Streamed by Canyon Lake Broadcasting starting at 6:30pm.
