TOP 15 Hawk Sporting Events for 2017-18 School Year

Canyon Lake made history this season as all of the Team Sporting Events qualified for a post-season game with some of those teams going further into that the playoffs ever. Hence, having a Top 15 instead of a Top 10 as in year’s past.

The ReSporter will be conducting the top 15 games for the rest of May with a countdown to that #1 event in the mind of the ReSporter’s staff. Granted the Staff for the ReSporter is quite small in number but being a part of every year except that first school year, for sports competing against Varsity clubs, would hopefully qualify for this tough endeavor.

Don Chente says Way to Go Lady Hawks Volleyball!

Since stats are what drives the ‘Staff’ for The ReSporter, then you can digest this morsel, there have been 349 entries to this Site for this school year. Yes, there are other publications that follow Canyon Lake sports, but The ReSporter not only follows the Hawks, we cover all Hawk Sports.

If you are interested in having an ‘AD’ for this coming year, then get in touch and get on board for helping support Canyon Lake through print and putting more information out for The Hawks.

It has been mentioned before, but worth repeating, this was a Year of First’s, after each team qualified for a chance to continue playing after their regular season was finished.

With Volleyball being the most dominating sport for Canyon Lake these past few years, an absence in number of mentions for a list like this might be expected. As there is much more that is expected from Volleyball after this group of ladies won CL’s first District Championship 3 years ago.

So, for sport’s programs of this ink, The ReSporter, might be expecting something above board that other sports would consider a First.

Hope this is entertaining and without further ado, we will commence this count down with #15 on this list.

             Way to Go Hawks!!

Volleyball was once again a mainstay with a year that mirrored their previous 4 campaigns. Finishing 2nd in District 28-4A play, that one fact would put this Sport where no other Hawk team has climbed to during the first 10 years of competition.

Finishing in the top 2 for district has now been a common occurrence with this being the 4th season with a 2nd place or higher finish. By completing district play with Fredericksburg being the only school above them, had The Lake with a chance to play the 3rd seed school in District 27-4A in that first round.

CL’s Volleyball Team, by finishing in the top 2 in district play, will give this team a lower seeded school for that fist round in the playoffs. That gives Volleyball the Hawk team that has won their Bi-District contests and sending them to an Area tilt.

Your Hawks have had the opportunity to finish Wimberley’s season the previous two campaigns and that in itself puts this contest in the Top 15 for Canyon Lake. CL is on a 7 game winning streak over the Texan’s which would have been a pipe dream for every Hawk team during those first years of play.

         Way to Go Lady Hawks!!

In fact, Canyon Lake, had not been victorious for a set within a match since Volleyball started competing against Varsity Schools during the 2008 season. That will show how being victorious against a school that has almost has as many State Championships than CL has been in existenc shows how any win over our Devil’s Backbone Companion is special.

This year, the Hawks, would sweep the Texans which continued their season going into a game with Needville. The Blue Jays would beat CL, in that Area contest, but that loss was against the eventual State Champion which would give CL a softer pillow in dealing with that 2nd round set back.

Canyon Lake had a young team last season and will look to improve once again as District 28-4A this coming season will add some new schools for the next two years.

Go Hawks!!
