CL Hawks JV, Wake-Up in Win over the Billies
CANYON LAKE JV Wake Up in Win over the Billies
Canyon Lake Sub-Varsities both take care of Fredericksburg to remain in 2nd place in District 28-4A play.
For the Junior Varsity, there is one thing that is clear…..this team will lose their first set.
This has become a common occurrence this year all to often and as a result having to sweep those next two sets for a win.
“That is our favorite thing to do,” Head JV Coach Megan Helmey said with a sly smile. “We want to get as much game time as possible.”
In last week’s article, Coach Helmey, stated that the team would be working on their pre-game warm ups to help get over that first game hump….to no avail.
“We have to work on harnessing that 2nd set to our 1st set,” Helmey reiterated.
Canyon Lake’s JV seem to get a head of steam as the time gets long in the tooth to much of the chagrin for the Coaches and fans.
Riley Shear was one of the many Hawks that came through in the clutch and her answers might be a key for future matches.
“We are getting off the bus after a long drive and we are always sleeping,” Shear said. “In this match we needed to work on our communicating and had to get more energy…..we need to work on just hyping up that energy.”
On this evening, The Lake, was true to form as all three teams started their games with losses in that first set.
The ReSporter does not remember Bus Rides being comfortable enough for a good sleep but apparently that is not the case anymore.
Canyon Lake’s JV would improve their scoring with each new serve with this line score improving the longer a game proceeded, 23-25 then a comfortable, 25-21 victory into slumber land with that final conquest being scored, 25-16 in favor of the slumbering Hawks.
No Pillows for the next away game and a sweep might be in order!!
Go Hawks!!
