Canyon Lake has 3 teams that have graced their football schedule since that first 2008 year.
All three are pretty much opposite in how CL has played with Wimberley having the upper hand by 5 games and then the even battle against Blanco that the Hawks finally took the series lead this season (6-5).
Fredericksburg has been one of the few schools that has not had a lot of success against the Hawks with The Lake enjoying an 8-2 record going into this week’s contest.
Canyon Lake is on a 4 game winning streak matching their best series start form 2009 to 2012. Fredericksburg won the district title that season in 2013 as they took CL to the wood-shed, 38-14.
The Billies have been battling for that same district banner since these two schools first met and that is one distinction that no other school can claim.
Fredericksburg comes into this week’s game on a 3 game losing streak with two of those loses coming in district play. That will give you an idea of how this school will not be an easy bout as the Billies backs will be against the wall in needing a victory to help climb up the district race and improve their seeding when the post-season comes calling.
QB Brant Bowers will bring his 52% completion rate to this game with 1500 yards through the air and 15 touchdowns. Bowers can keep out of trouble as he is still above water in the rushing department.
Jarrett Beard is Bower’s go to receiver as this wide-out has 34 receptions totaling 584 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Beard will be joined by 3 other pass catchers that have over 200 yards each in this department.

Hobbs Price will also be busy out of the backfield with 362 yards coming from his running game. Beard and William Sebera will also get some yardage from the Billies running game.
Canyon Lake will hope some of those injured Hawks can make a return to action this week. Last year’s team was blessed with a ton of depth and during this campaign there are several players on Sub-Varsity teams that have changed jerseys in helping shore up those shortcomings of injured Hawks.
The Lake’s defense will have another team that likes to throw and so far CL has done a decent job in getting pressure on opposing team’s quarterbacks. Opponents are averaging 10 yards per completion and 5 yards per pass play.
Those are good numbers for a starting point and then add giving up 3 yards per rushing attempt and that will make a good statement for winning a contest.
CL’s offense keeps improving with each passing (pardon the pun) game and with the loss of some key players in the line and backfield will put a magnifying glass on those Hawk replacements that have been performing well up to this 8th game of the season.
This road game will give Canyon Lake a chance of increasing their winning streak to 5 games in Billie Land. With a good defense on Friday should be enough to get The Lake’s offense in gear for a win.
Go Hawks!!
