Canyon Lake’s Lady Basketball take care of their 4th opponent to open their season keeping all 4 teams below the 40 point threshold in win, 37-31.

       Proud of the Hawks!!

The Hawks Basketball is in rarefied air with this win and counting the end of last year have now crafted a 14-1 record in their last 15 contest.

“We came out with more intensity this game,” Head Coach Zach Burleson started. “Austin Reagan was pretty athletic at their guard position.”

CL was able to control the game with a good start and leading by 11 points going into intermission.

“There were some good things in this game,” Coach Burleson continued. “But we have to keep our turnovers down. That is our biggest issue on the offensive end.”

It was another game where the Hawks reached the 30 turnover plateau. That will give your opponent that many more chances of scoring….The Lake did finish with 17 steals in helping the turnover sting to be more livable.

“Defensively, we need to continue to work on blocking out and securing rebounds,” Coach Burleson calculated. “Progress is being made, just need to continue to work and get better at those things.”

Canyon Lake used that same formula with last year’s season which ended with a decent record.

           Proud of The Hawks!!

Marley Carrizales had one of her best games since she graced the varsity team in her freshman campaign. Scoring 15 points with 6 rebounds and 5 steals helped round out a good evening.

“Marley was real good for us in this game,” Burleson said. “She grabbed some loose balls rebounded and played an all-around solid game.”

Caroline Kullberg had her best game as this block party player started her quest for supremacy in that arena swatting 4 shots from having a chance of hitting the rim.

With right at 2 years remaining, Kullberg is moving in a prime spot to overtake Amber Ramsey who finished her Hawk career with 99 blocks.
