CL Hawks With Run-a-way Win over Apaches, 79-47 & Season Top 3
Rico Griffin, Anthony Zavala, and Sam Schimank are coming up big as season enters hyper-stage.
CL Hawks won their first true road game, when they traveled to Gonzales to face the Apaches and winning, 79-47.
This run-a-way win only had one quarter of sub-par play as the Hawks matched Gonzales with a 12 point 3rd quarter.

The Apaches led once when they opened the scoring with a two pointer with just 20 seconds gone in that opening 8 minutes.
From there on, it was all CL, after forcing 22 turnovers with the Hawks full-court press that had a 24-1 stint, from 1:30 in the 1st quarter to right at 2 minutes before halftime. The Lake went into intermission with a resounding, 47-19 advantage.
CL had 4 players reach double digit scoring with Parker Mott’s 18 points leading the way. Sam Schimank and JT Greene matched 12 point a piece followed by Rico Griffin dropping in 10 points.
What had been a yearly anemic free throw shooting school, Canyon Lake opened this game making all eight free throws in that opening stanza. Griffin shot 6 for 7 from the line in that first half leading the charge.
All but one Hawks scored in the win while all but one Hawk contributing with a rebound.
Canyon Lake will be in action on Thursday as the Hawks host their Classic Tournament with a tip-off at 11:15am and then 2nd contest later at 1:45 against Somerset.
