Lady Hawks get 12th Win after a Natalia Victory, 34-25

The Lady Hawks (12-4) did all their damage in the first and third quarter for a win over Natalia last Tuesday night.
“We played pretty good in the first quarter,” Head Coach Zach Burleson started. “We got cold in the 2nd and 3rd, but played hard.”
Hit them hard Hawks!!
That is one constant you can take for this year’s Hawk’s round-ball team. CL has been in almost all of the contests thus far and with their stifling defense, opposing teams are finding it hard to get points.
“Our effort was good,” Coach Burleson continued. “It was a long trip and a tough place to play, which is good for us. We have a real tough game this Friday versus San Marcos HomeSchool. They are undefeated and we are looking forward to the challenge.”
San Marcos is sporting a 22-0 record and beat this same Natalia school, 60-29 and in an earlier contest beat a FEAST team that had Canyon Lake’s number in last week’s New Braunfels Christian Tournament.
In this game The Lake jumped out to a 10 point advantage to start the game and led by17 points entering the last period before this eventual win.
During the season, Canyon Lake has not let up on the defensive side of the court as these past two year’s will attest to.

Marley Carrizales continued her record pace with steals this season in leading the team on this night with 5 thefts. For the year, Carrizales, has amassed 59 steals and would need 38 to reach the top of that mountain.
Chelsea Tschoepe and Alexa Ramos both finished with over 90 last year as Tschoepe just finished out of first place by two steals.

Last year had 4 Hawks in this prestigious Sorority with 3 players on this year’s team zeroing in on breaking into that list above. With Carrizales (59), Lainee Moses (43), and Tschoepe (31) and still half a season to play.
Canyon Lake will now take a Christmas Break and be back in action later this month when they travel to Kerrville OLH for their last tournament before district play begins.
