Boys & Girls Lose to Boerne as District 28-4A Games Continue

HAWKS SLEEP-WALK IN LOSS TO BOERNE
Canyon Lake slept walked out of their Bus into a Greyhound Race as the Hawks were lapped in their loss as they could never grab any traction in losing, 57-44.
Go Canyon Lake!!
CL did close the gap by 6 points and trailed 8 points entering the 2nd Half, but this game would be over for all intense and purposes as Boerne outscored The Lake, 20-10 in that 3rd period.
Parker Mott was the only Hawk to score in double figures finishing with 19 points and rebounds were a scarcity after a hot shooting Home Team would not give many opportunities for grabbing those bounds.
Canyon Lake exasperated the problem with 21 turnovers which doused any hope for a comeback.
The Hawks will be back in action when they come home to welcome Wimberley. This will be an important battle as both teams are playing at a .500 clip for their season and district play.
Winning this head to head contest will help in realizing another trip to a post-season Bi-District game.

CANYON LAKE LOSE RACE TO GREYHOUNDS

The Lady Hawks made their district race a bit more complicated after suffering their 3rd straight loss at home to Boerne, 46-39.
CL started on the right foot ending the first period with a 4 point lead but that was a short lived lead as the Greyhounds outscored, The Lake, 26-13 during those two middle quarters in helping put the Hawks in a 3-way battle for a 3rd or 4th seed in District 28-4A.
Shooting 29% from inside the 3-point arc did no favors for the Home Team while continuing their turnover epidemic totaling 25 in the loss.
Jesse Melendez did pass Tiffany Tschoepe for the All-Time Rebounding category with 13 for the contest. Tiffany, had that title, for 8 years as Melendez will have another year of adding onto that record.
Sophia Barber led the Hawks with 12 points after coming out of her behind the arc slump in sinking 4, in helping CL stay within striking distance.

The Hawks will have another important game when they take to the road in Wimberley as they will try to get back on the winning side, as this district starts to round that last turn for seeding purposes.
Canyon Lake holds a one game advantage over Wimberley and Bandera and CL has each of those schools left on their schedule. Beating one of those teams would go a long way in helping the Hawks realize a Bi-District game.
