CL Hawks Lose to YellowJackets in their Comeback Effort, 56-54

Canyon Lake can live by the 3 pointer and lose by the 3 pointer, count the latter for the loss to Llano, 56-54,

The Hawks were good on their very first 3 point shot to take a lead, 3-1 and then proceeded to miss all 11 shots from beyond the arc for the rest of the half.

CL shot the same amount of 3’s as 2 pointer’s with a 24% success rate in eventual loss.

This was a tough set-back as Llano is fighting for a playoff spot while Canyon Lake was resting in the 3rd place standings before this contest. Now the Hawks will be in some must wins in order to right their district games and season.

Llano jumped out to a 9 point lead in that first period after going over 5 minutes without a score as the YellowJackets scored 17 points during that same time sequence.

Canyon Lake was able to tie the score 3 times in that final period while scoring 23 points but was not able to get their head above water and on the winning side.

Parker Mott finished with 22 points in leading CL while Trent MacRoberts had 12 points and led the Hawks with 9 rebounds.

The Lake had just 8 turnovers which was a season low and a good omen for future games but a poor shooting night would do the Hawks in.

Canyon Lake will be on the road on Friday in a visit to Fredericksburg and looking for a turnaround with 4 games remaining.
